I graduated from the PhD program in the Department of Structural Engineering, University of California, San Diego in the Fall quarter of 2005. My advisor is Prof. Elgamal, Ahmed-W. After graduation, I joined Geomatrix Consultants, Inc. as a geotechnical engineer. ![]() My dissertation is titled "Liquefaction-Induced Lateral Spreading and its Effects on Pile Foundations". In addition to my dissertation, my research at UCSD included seismic site response analysis, soil liquefaction potential evaluation, laterally loaded piles under monotonic loading and cyclic loading conditions, earthquake vertical ground motions, and system identification of soil dynamic properties. I received my Bachelor degree from Department of Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering at Tsinghua University, China's No.1 college in engineering. Thereafter, I worked at Department of Geotechnical Engineering, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research. Prior to joining University of California, San Diego, I received my Master Degree in Civil Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, under the supervision of Prof. Leong, Eng Choon.
